Pregnancy and Breast Feeding Guidance
Penicillins and Cephalosporins are drugs of choice in pregnancy and breastfeeding. In pregnancy, avoid quinolones, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, high dose metronidazole, trimethoprim (in first trimester – folate antagonist) and nitrofurantoin (at term – risk of neonatal haemolysis).
